some of the very first inklings for soft world came around November of 2017. It was beginning to get cold out, there was an annoying tinnitus in my ear, and the city was feeling like a lost, hurt island - an island only floating by a mere miracle. So I felt that the world was in need of a "reckless optimism", an optimism that was based on strong faith and the need for survival.

certain sketches and demos for "soft world" began with this idea in mind. It was to be primarily about the body and movement and it would be paired with very bright, glittering and sterile production. The album would be a rich source of energy rather than melancholy. It would celebrate joy and transcendence rather than hopelessness and void. It would be playful, stupid, anti-intellectual. It would attempt to break from popular ideas and try to be funky. It would be an escape hatch, a safe place, a "soft world".
